Event Dates and Details

Biggenden APEX Rose Ball
Prior to the 2018 Biggenden APEX Rosefestival will be the Biggenden APEX Rose Ball which will be held Saturday, October 6th afrom 5:30 PM at the Biggenden Show Hall. Tickets for the Ball are for Sale at Deb’s Country Outfitters in Biggenden.

Treasures of Biggenden and Beyond Art Exhibition
Starting Friday October 19th from 6pm is the Wine and Cheese Opening Night held at the Biggenden Memorial Hall which is the Opening night for the Treasures of Biggenden and Beyond Art Exhibition. The Exhibition will be open on Saturday 20th October. An all Day Exhibition with entry fee, and art classes by Rhanni McKosker @ $30 per hour. On Sunday Morning 21st October the exhibition is open for the purpose of picking up of the paintings purchased.

Scarecrow Competition
The Community creates Scare Crows as part of our Rose Festival Celebrations. Individuals, community groups, and schools take part in this activity. The scarecrow will be displayed down the main street during the Rose Festival. Scarecrows are to be delivered to the Biggenden Memorial Hall on Friday 19th of October 2018 before 2pm.

Henry Walsh Climb to Mt Walsh
As part of the Biggenden APEX Rosefestival the Henry Walsh Climb to the summit of Mt Walsh will be held on Saturday the 20th of October with meeting point at the Mt Walsh car park at 6am. Breakfast between 6am and 7am. At 7am start of the guided climb of Mt Walsh – tour and morning tea on the summit. 12 midday – return.

Biggenden APEX Rose Festival Markets and Entertainment
The Rose Festival will be held in Edward Street in Biggenden on October 20th. The festival begins at 2pm with markets, music performances and family entertainment which will continue into the night. Come and enjoy the fantastic offerings of food stalls of all kinds, see the Snake Boss Reptile Show, meet Magic Glen, visit the pony rides, kids rides and animal farm, play Laser Skirmish or relax in the extended licence areas of the two local pubs.

Biggenden APEX Rose Festival Parade “Treasures of Biggenden”
The 2018 Parade commences on Saturday October 20th from 4pm in Edward Street Biggenden. This years theme is “Treasures of Biggenden”. Come and join us for the highlight of the Rosefestival and watch the parade of Biggenden floats coming down Edward Street.

The Biggenden APEX Rose Festival and its famous Parade will be held on Saturday 20th October 2018. This year the theme is Treasures of Biggenden. The Rosefestival is an open platform for anyone in our community who is interested to contribute to it not only with the fantastic floats and market stalls the community brings but by running events for the community. On Saturday 20th of October the Biggenden APEX Rosefestival 2018 will kick off with markets at 2pm. There will be lots of entertainment for the whole family with an ongoing magic and science show, a snake and reptile show, Laser Tag, lots of different foods to try and many market stalls to explore. The Parade will start around 4pm and the festival will continue into the night with various entertainment. Make sure you put the date in your calendar and bring the whole family.

The biennial Biggenden Rose Festival was inaugurated in 1967 and was successfully revived in 2016. The festival took its name from the rose garden beds in the center of Edward street constructed in 1954 in commemoration of the shire’s pioneers. In 1959 to celebrate Queenslands centenary many towns held festivals and parades with decorated floats. This was the first float parade held in Biggenden and the origin of the Rosefestival.

There is plenty of accommodation options right in the heart and within walking distance from the Festival, starting with Mountain View Caravan Park, the Biggenden Motel, the Commerical Motel or the Caravan area in Edward Street which will be right at the heart of the event itself
  • Eward Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic throughout the festival with both pubs extending their licenced area and allowing for strolling and visiting all of the festivals attraction throughout the day.

The A5 Flyer will be sent to all Biggenden Households mid September and one week thereafter it will be made available to all interested businesses in Biggenden as an over the counter hand out. The flyer is approved to use with any press information.
